Planted with purpose. Growing with heart
Amy Ferguson, AIFD, CFD
Floral Designer. Flower Grower. Storyteller.
Most flower farmers start as growers and later become florists — but I took the opposite path.
I've been a professional floral designer for over 20 years, working full-time at Allen's Flowers, Inc. alongside my mother Sandra, who owns our family shop. In 2021, I earned my Certified Floral Designer (CFD) credential and was honored to be inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) the following year.
Designing with flowers has always been my passion — creating beauty with every stem, every season, every story.
But when the floral supply chain faced uncertainty in 2020, I realized how deeply we rely on the roots beneath the blooms. That challenge sparked a new passion: growing flowers myself.
I dove headfirst into the world of flower farming — studying, experimenting, and discovering ways to grow beautiful, local blooms right here in Missouri. Today, Blooms on Forty is where my two worlds meet: design and growing, art and earth.
Through my farm and floral work, I share what I've learned — from sustainable growing practices to wedding-worthy design techniques. Whether you’re here to grow a better garden, design a better bouquet, or simply enjoy the beauty flowers bring, I’m so glad you’re here.
Thank you for being part of this blooming journey.
